The popular right activist for the Oduduwa Republic, Sunday igboho is reportedly said to be diagnosed with kidney disease.
The news was disclosed to BBC Africa by one of his lawyers, Yomi Aliyyu.
According to him “I can’t tell if he has been returned to the prison from the hospital but what I know is, he’s battling ill health and it seems his kidney and lungs are already being affected”
He added that “Igboho was not diagnosed with this sickness before he was arrested in Cotonou. It was so critical that they had to rush him to the hospital”
The Ilana Omo Oodua group confirmed the news and is waiting for further medical tests to confirm the actual illness.
The spokesperson, Maxwell Adeleye of Ilana Omo Oodua in his statement warned the Government ahead of this development, “Expect our reaction soon. But the government should be warned that nothing must happen to Igboho.”
Sunday Igboho has been remanded in Benin Prison since July after he was apprehended on his way to Germany in Benin Republic, Cotonou.
His case has not been short of twists and turns after several attempts had been made to extradite him back to Nigeria.
The recent development ensued after Sunday Igboho sued the Nigeria Government for the illegal invasion of his home and properties.
The court ordered that 20 billion naira should be paid in compensation for the damages done.
