This position is accountable for carrying out all aspects of gardener work, including maintaining athletic sports turf, preparing sports field surfaces, designing, striping, and painting lines for intercollegiate athletic fields, repairing irrigation systems, spraying pesticides, controlling weeds, and operating heavy grounds equipment, under general supervision and in accordance with scheduled and periodic training.

This position is in charge of the general maintenance and repair of all the grounds and athletic facilities, ensuring a hygienic, secure, and appealing learning environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Sports fields’ general upkeep, upkeep, and beautification
• Work Skillfully in Specialized Planting Areas in Horticulture
• Adjusts irrigation controls based on the use of the fields and the weather
• Sprays lawns, weeds, trees, shrubs, and flowers to manage weeds and pests
• Operates tractors, dump vehicles, and attachments, both large and tiny.

• Fills out equipment records as necessary

Job Qualifications

• Experience working with nursery or decorative plants for two years, including planting seeds and cuttings, watering, fertilizing, transplanting, and pruning.
• requires the use of a current California driver’s license to operate any equipment or vehicle needed for a position or in an emergency.
• must take part in any medical exams and physicals mandated by OSHA.
