Ministry of Finance Denies hoarding Army’s Budget


The Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning has denied hoarding the funds that belonged in the Nigerian Army’s Budget.

The Ministry stated that N1trn has been released to the Nigerian Army from 2019 till April 2021 and further said that the funds were released at the due time.

Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of Finance, made this known during an interactive session with the Senate Committee members on Army.

The Minister also added that apart from releasing the Army’s budgeted fund at almost 100 percent, there had been times where the Army went to the President and got special approvals.

She said while giving a breakdown of the money disbursed that N129.69bn was for capital; N39.76bn, overhead; N681.79bn, personnel, and N157.6bn, special releases.

Zainab added;

“So perhaps what we’re providing is not enough, but the fact is we provide what’s budgeted and we provide what’s approved.”
