Davido popularly known as OBO is an American-born artist. His full name is Adeleke Adedeji David. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on the 21st of November, 1992. His mother is Dr. Vero Adeleke and his father is the prominent businessman, Adedeji Ade. He is the youngest of his parent’s children and the second son of five children.

In addition, Davido attended the British Intern School in Lagos, Nigeria. Subsequently, after he clocked 16, he went back to the US to study business administration at Oakwood University in Alabama.

Davido Age

David Adedeji Adeleke celebrates his birthday on the 21st of November, currently, he is 29 years old and will be clocking 30 by the 21st of November, 2022.

Career

Davido, while at Oakwood started making beats after he bought musical instruments. He also worked with his two famous cousins, B-Red and Sina Rambo to form the music act KB International. He finally resorted to dropping out of Oakwood University to pursue music full-time and relocated to London, where he worked on his vocals.

Subsequently, in 2011, Davido returned to Nigeria where he paused his music career and agreed to honor his father by enrolling at Babcock University. He graduated from Babcock with a degree in music after his father paid the university to start a music department for an inaugural class of one student.

Furthermore, Davido began to work on his debut studio album in 2011 titled Omo Baba Olowo, a mixture of hip-hop and Afrobeats. He worked with Maleek Berry, Spellz, GospelOnDeBeatz, Jay Sleek, Mr. Chidoo, Shizzi, Dokta Frabz, and Theory Soundz to produce the album.

The album won Best R&B/Pop Album and received a nomination for Album of the Year at The 2013 Headies Award. At the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards, it was also nominated for Best Album of the Year.

Also, Davido released “Back When”, The Naeto C-assisted track as the album’s lead single on May 7, 2011. Afterward, he released the album’s second single “Dami Duro” on the 30th of October, 2011 which was jointly produced by him and Shizzi.

2012

He further released “Ekuro”, the album’s third single on the 25th of January, 2012 which was recorded by Antwan Smith in Miami. “Overseas”, the album’s fourth single was released on the 6th of May, 2012 and lastly, Davido released “All of You”, the album’s fifth single on the 28th of September, 2012.

In addition, Davido founded his record label just a few months after signing with Sony, he named it Davido Music Worldwide (DMW). Mayorkun, Peruzzi, Dremo, and Honda were signed into the label in July 2016.

However, The Nigerian singer, on April 6, 2012, reportedly signed a ₦30 million endorsement with MTN which unveiled him as the face of MTN Pulse, a marketing campaign aimed at Nigerian youth.

2013

On the 24th of October, 2013, he signed an endorsement deal with Pulse Nigeria reported to Guinness Nigeria. Davido performed at the Guinness World of More Concert alongside artists including Chidinma, Tiwa Savage, P-Square, D’bang, Ice Prince, Olamide, Phyno, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.

2021

Also, Davido reportedly signed an endorsement deal with Infinix Mobile, a Hong Kong-based smartphone manufacturer. He was announced as an official brand ambassador In May 2021 by the popular sports betting brand 1×Bet. He also became Martell (cognac) ‘s new ambassador on June 11.

Surprisingly, In 2021 on the 17th of November, Davido pulled a funny but useful stunt where he dared his friends to send the sum of one million nairas each to his account. He thereby noted that anyone who refused to do so should not associate with him anymore.

Fortunately, he was able to raise the total sum of 201 million naira and he willingly added 50 million to it. Afterward, he set a panel to disburse the money to orphanages in Nigeria.

Then he took to his Twitter to share a copied statement “we rise by lifting others”. In that same month, he gladly released Champion Sound with South African act, Focalistic.

More recently, in 2022, on the 5th of March, Davido reportedly sold out the O2 arena with a capacity of 20, 000 and the arena was renamed “The Davido 2” for one night to celebrate him.
